K-5 Program Director
Position Overview:
The K-5 Program Director is a full-time, 40hr/week position that is responsible for King Street Center’s largest program, with up to 59 youth in the program on any given day. The Director oversees the administration and oversight required of a state licensed 5 STAR afterschool program. In addition, they are responsible for planning daily activities and curriculum, managing and coaching between 12-16 staff, providing behavior support in the classroom, and communicating with families.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Supervision
Manages and coaches between 12-16 part time youth development staff, ensuring that staff are modeling safe behavior, effectively communicating risk management issues or concerns and participating in appropriate meetings.
Works closely with the K-5 Program Assistant Director to administer the program.
Works with the HR Manager on recruitment, hiring, training, and evaluation of staff.
Leads regular staff meetings and individual check-ins with staff, including offering feedback on their performance and requesting feedback on yours.
Works with the Community Outreach Director to supervise interns and program volunteers.
Ensures staff are fully trained and adhere to policies and procedures contained in the licensing guidelines, staff handbook, parent handbook and emergency procedures.
Administrative Oversight
Supervises student enrollment process, including registration, payment/subsidy/scholarship information, and roster creation using standard systems, procedures and deadlines as established by King Street Center.
Maintains reciprocal, ongoing pathways of communication with families regarding program logistics, and the successes and challenges of their child/ren. Hold caregiver meetings 1-2 times per year.
Works with the Family Support Director to ensure all eligible children receive child care subsidy and communicate with families about subsidy.
Oversees compliance with Child Care Licensing Requirement and manage the annual STARS quality credentialing process in a timely manner.
Purchases instructional materials and teaching aids, including developmentally-appropriate books, toys, and games as well as any other necessary supplies.
Works with senior leadership to develop, implement, and monitor the annual program budget.
Maintains Traxsolutions Database and daily attendance.
Works with the Meals Program Coordinator to ensure nutritious meals are provided during the program.
Ensures accurate record keeping of student records, including health and safety matters.
Participates in agency team meetings and staff days.
Works with Senior Director of Programs to implement annual evaluation of program- Parent and Youth Surveys, YPQA, DESSA Mini etc.
Ensure physical space is clean, welcoming, and safe from hazards.
Curriculum & Activity Development
Develops, implements, participates in, supervises and evaluates out-of-school time educational and age-appropriate activities for children in compliance with the guidelines and standards set by the state licensing board that support the mission and goals of King Street Center. This should include academic, physical, and enrichment activities that provide choices; are developmentally appropriate for the population served, fit the interest of attendees, and make effective use of staff.
Works with K-5 Assistant Director to plan, implement, and supervise daily academic tutoring and enrichment activities.
When necessary, provides classroom coverage for breaks and staff absences.
Works with Teen and Early Education Directors to plan, develop, and implement after school and summer programs.
Other Duties
Supports behavior management in classrooms.
Maintain a high level of confidentiality, ensure adherence to mandatory reporting guidelines. This position is a state mandated reporter.
Communicate and collaborate with Burlington School District teachers and staff, as necessary, to support youth academic success.

Qualifications & Experience:
Must possess a BA, BS or Associate’s degree
At least three years of experience working with - and leading programs for - elementary school-aged children.
Must pass a criminal background check through the VT Child Care Development Division
Must have a valid driver's license and pass a motor vehicle report
At least one year of program management experience
Experience working with low-income communities and immigrant, refugee and BIPOC youth and families is required.
Physical Requirements & Conditions of Work:
Work is conducted inside and outside during all seasons. Must be able to be physically active, participate in gross motor games, and walk distances to neighborhood sites. Occasional lifting of furniture, materials and children, weighing up to 50 pounds. Occasional interaction with children and families exhibiting some instability in their behavior. Some potential for risks to physical safety and security of the facility. Potential for injury from physical interplay with children, and for illness passed along from children. Employment Details:
Employment Type: Full-time, 40 hrs/week
School Year Program Hours: Typically 10am-6pm [may vary as needed]
Summer Program Hours: 8 hour shift rotating start and end of program between 8am and 5pm
Salary range: $50,000-60,000
