Family Support
King Street Center has always supported families through hard times, providing immediate support in crisis situations. However, this support came from whoever had extra capacity in the moment a family came to us — never any one particular staff. This level of support, certainly helped them get through difficult situations, but the need for a dedicated staff member became increasingly dire following the pandemic.
During our strategic planning process in 2022, King Street Center heard from over 200 members of our community — families, youth, volunteers, partners, donors, etc. — and the need for family support was loud and clear. Over the next year, we worked to lift a new Family Support Program up off the ground that provides wraparound services to every King Street Center family, not just those experiencing a crisis.
The program is strategically designed to not only respond to crisis, but to prevent crisis from occurring in the first place. Our Family Support Director — Carrie Jacques — has been working at King Street Center for 30 years and has deep, trusted relationships with many of our families already.
