In late October, King Street Center celebrated the annual High Five Award presentation! High Fives are thoughtfully awarded each year to a King Street staff member, volunteer, community partner, donor, and youth participant who have shown dedication and passion to upholding the KSC mission.
This year we recognized some truly outstanding members of the King Street community…
Carrie Jacques
Afterschool Excellence Director at KSC whose tenacity and love have created a supportive culture in which kids have the opportunity to grow and recognize their potential
Mark Johnson
King Street’s mentor and volunteer extraordinaire who has donated countless hours of expertise to KSC administration and youth alike
Robert and Holly Miller
Long Term KSC donors whose continuous support has “…changed the trajectory of this organization” and whose sincerity and warmth have brightened the Burlington community
The Flynn Center
A deeply connected partner in the KSC sphere, who never hesitates to provide diverse enrichment opportunities to all King Street youth
Habiba Kassim
A King Street Center teen whose engagement, hard work, and value for herself and others make her a role model to all of her peers
Over 200 KSC community members came out to honor recipients, snack on delicious treats from Farmhouse, sip on beautiful wines donated by Dedalus, and give each other high fives! Attendees wrote messages of gratitude to one another on painted hand prints from King Street youth and posted them throughout the KSC gym; while local poet and KSC volunteer, Rajnii Eddins, performed a freestyle about King Street that guests are sure to remember. Check out Rajnii’s performance here!
